I need help answering these volleyball questions!?
Here they are:
1.when is it legal or illegal for the ball to touch the net?
2.if the offensive team hits the ball outside of their own boundary lines, can the offensive team play or return the ball?
3.when can the offensive team not hit the ball (refer to previous question)?
4.if the ball is not coming directly to a player, what should the player do to play the ball?
5.when the ball is at or below a players waist what type of shot should be used?
6.what type of shot should be used when the ball is overhead?
7.when the ball is being served how many players can be standing outside the boundary lines?
8.what is correct way to perform the forearm pass and what is the common name for this skill?
9.when a player serves the ball before the whistle blows, what is the correct call?
10.is it legal to step on or step over the offensive line?
please and thank you so much if you answer my questions, or even just one of them (:
-sara.
On number 10 its supposed to be "centerline" not "offensive line".sorry.
and one more question, can a player spike from the backrow?
1. it’s legal never and it is illegal
2. yes feel free to return it there is no rule against it
3.the offensive team can only hit it on there sides
4.If no one is going for it you should go for it
5.a bump, but thats what the knee pads are for you can get on ur
knees and bump it up
6.if it is directly over your head set it, if it is going over your head let the back row get it. if you r in the back row let it go out
7. none- except the people on the bench
8. just bump the ball regularly and let someone else get it if it doesn’t get over the net- and that is the name that most people call it
9. you should call that and give it to the other team or warn the person serving
10. when you are serving you have to stay where the mark is and u cannot go on the other side of the net
I hope that helped Good Luck!!

1. Depending on the referee, the ball can touch the net on a serve. If you hit it, it can still touch the net, but the ball needs to go over.
2. As long as the ball is still on your side and it hasn’t been played three times, your can hit it.
3. When the ball is on the other teams side.
4. Back up and get behind the ball, unless they are a front row player. If its heading farther back, a back row player should get the ball.
5. A player should dig, or dive to get the ball. Knee pads are very useful. :] Though it would be best not to wait that long
6. If you can attack it, that would be great, but setting is also an option.
7. None.
8. Putting your hands together and making a flat platform with your arms. It’s called bumping.
9. I’m not sure what it’s called, but the ref usually lets you re-serve.
10. No.

1. It’s not illegal.
2. Yes.
3. They can hit the ball whenever they want.
4. Shuffle to the ball.
5. Pancake or dive. (as of this year it is not illegal to kick the ball)
6. Shot?
7. None.
8. Get low, and, depending on how hard the hit is, raise your arms up to your chin, while facing your target. If you are just passing the ball, it’s called "bumping", if you are passing a spike, it is called a "dig".
9. I have never heard of an "offensive line".

1.when is it legal or illegal for the ball to touch the net?
A: If the ball touches the net and goes over, that’s legal, all’s good. If it goes into the net – that’s bad. You can still play the ball as long as you have touches left and it doesn’t hit the ground.
2.if the offensive team hits the ball outside of their own boundary lines, can the offensive team play or return the ball?
A: I assume you mean in the case of a really bad dig or first pass. Yes, the team can play the ball anywhere on their own side of the court – or in any part of the free space on the other side of the court – as long as the ball comes back over their side without going over the net first (i.e. it must go back outside the antennae). (That make sense?)
3.when can the offensive team not hit the ball (refer to previous question)?
A: If it goes over the net. Or in the case of question 2, a ball that comes back over the net or through the opponent’s half of the court.
4.if the ball is not coming directly to a player, what should the player do to play the ball?
A: Move to the ball and call for it, then play it. Also listen out for other players calling and judge if they would be better going for it.
5.when the ball is at or below a players waist what type of shot should be used?
A: That’d normally be a bump. If the ball is very low, then dig it or even consider a pancake (where you dive flat and stick your hand under the ball).
6.what type of shot should be used when the ball is overhead?
A: A normal set, volley or finger pass – unless you’re near the net. Then consider spiking it.
7.when the ball is being served how many players can be standing outside the boundary lines?
A: Of the twelve players on court: One – the server, who must be behind the line or in the air over it. All other players must be entirely within the court. Subsitutes etc can be moving about but only near the bench, so they don’t count.
8.what is correct way to perform the forearm pass and what is the common name for this skill?
A: Extend your forearms, palms up, and bring your hands together. Bend your knees. Point your thumbs forwards and try to make contact with the ball with the lower forearms, and come up through your legs as you pass. This is known as a bump, or a dig if executed very low down.
9.when a player serves the ball before the whistle blows, what is the correct call?
A: Whistle to stop the play and do the service again. No penalty.
10.is it legal to step on or step over the offensive line?
A: You can step on the center line as long as you’re not interfering with play, but you cannot step over it (if you land with your toe in the opponent’s court but your heel in the air, that’s interference).
11) Yes, you can – as long as you don’t hit the ball while the ball is completely over the height of the net.
There, hope that helped ![]()
